Friday: Positive Start for Mercedes Drivers
Positioned at the forefront during today's two sessions, the two Mercedes drivers, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, expressed their satisfaction with these initial tests held at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne.
Nico Rosberg – 7th and 3rd:
« It has been an interesting day for us. There are many new things to learn with the car, and we made good progress today. We can clearly be happy with our testing program when compared to our position last year. My car had a gearbox problem at the end of the second session, but these things happen and it shouldn’t affect us for tomorrow. »
Lewis Hamilton – 4th and 7th:
Overall, it was a good day, maybe even the most calm. I am happy with our position and seeing Nico in 3rd place on the timesheet shows that we are competitive. It reflects the tremendous work everyone has done at the factory and here on the track. I am looking forward to the rest of the weekend.
