Friday: Scuderia Ferrari is on the right track
Fernando Alonso expected that his Ferrari F138 would not be the fastest on the grid, and he got confirmation of that today. However, the Spanish driver remains confident. The same positivity comes from his teammate, Felipe Massa. Both Ferrari drivers are nonetheless aware that they have a lot of work ahead of them to improve.
Fernando Alonso – 3rd and 6th:
Overall, it was a very productive Friday as we completed many laps and carried out an initial important analysis of the behavior of the two types of Pirelli tires available for this race. Our efforts were helped by particularly favorable weather with sunshine and summer temperatures. However, the weather could change completely for tomorrow, with wind, rain, and a drop in temperatures, which could influence Sunday’s race. I don’t expect big surprises here; we already knew we weren’t the fastest, and that was confirmed today. The car responds well, but we know there’s still a lot to do if we want to fight with the very best.
Felipe Massa – 2nd and 8th:
All aspects of the two sessions were positive, even though we are aware that there is still a lot of work to do for this weekend and the entire season. During the second session, when I put on the Super-Softs, something didn’t function properly with the KERS and it cost me a bit of time, preventing me from doing a better lap. I am not surprised by the performance of our rivals and I expected Red Bull to be competitive from the start.
