Saturday: Gutiérrez stops at Q1 with Sauber
If Nico Hülkenberg managed to get through the qualifying session without too many issues despite the rain, the same cannot be said for his Sauber teammate, Esteban Gutiérrez. The Mexican driver went off the track and was unable to get out of Q1.
Nico Hülkenberg – 9th and 13th (in Q1):
We had an unusual qualifying session, which reminds me a bit of Suzuka in 2010 where the session was also postponed due to rain. Usually, Formula 1 runs like clockwork, but we can’t control the weather. The overall performance was good, and now we need to focus on making the most of the situation tomorrow.
Esteban Gutiérrez – 10th and 18th:
Unfortunately, I made a mistake and I’m sorry for the whole team. I felt very comfortable in the car and that’s something that’s a step forward for me. Now, obviously, I need to avoid this kind of mistake and try to make the most of my potential.
