Nick Heidfeld missing F1

Nick Heidfeld drove in Formula 1 from 2000 to 2011, with teams such as Prost, Sauber, Jordan, Williams, and Renault. However, after being replaced by Bruno Senna at Lotus Renault GP during the 2011 season, the German driver had to give up his F1 career due to not finding a competitive team willing to take him on.

Heidfeld – never victorious in F1 despite eight second places, five third places, and a total of 259 points scored in 185 Grand Prix – recently told the Heilbronner Stimme that he missed Formula 1 and wouldn’t be opposed to a return if a team contacted him: « Formula 1 misses me a lot. It’s really the best [motorsport championship, ed.]. I’d love to participate in a good car. »

The German, aged 35, also acknowledges that having more time to spend with his family is the only chance that makes him feel better. Even though he is no longer in F1, Heidfeld continued his career as a racing driver in the World Endurance Championship with the Swiss team Rebellion.
