Friday: Progress Expected for Vettel and Red Bull
In the top 5 of each session, the two Red Bull drivers are confident but are awaiting an improvement in the car's pace for Saturday. Mark Webber found the tires rather interesting in such conditions, while Sebastian Vettel noted their significant degradation.
Mark Webber – 1st and 5th:
« It was quite a calm day for us, but we need to make progress and continue to find rhythm. The slick tires weren’t too bad in these conditions and the mix seems quite interesting. Tires are still the most important thing right now – everything starts from them! It’s very hot in the car, but if I’m hot, then everyone else is too, and overall, it’s no worse than in previous years. »
Sebastian Vettel – 3rd and 2nd:
« I think it was an unusual day because in the second session, part of the track was very wet and the other was dry – but everything dried up pretty quickly because it was so hot. This afternoon, we couldn’t do much because of the weather, but this morning it seemed good, even though the tires didn’t last very long! We need to try several things tonight to make progress and take a step forward. »
