Official: Räikkönen penalized 3 places for impeding Rosberg
Guilty of having obstructed Nico Rosberg in qualifying, Kimi Räikkönen, who had qualified seventh, will ultimately start tenth tomorrow on the starting grid of the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix.
After a relatively disappointing qualifying session for the Lotus team, a new factor is hindering the Enstone team’s march toward victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix, as Kimi Räikkönen, initially qualified in seventh position, will ultimately start in tenth.
The Finn was thus found guilty by the Malaysian race stewards of having unnecessarily impeded Nico Rosberg. The Mercedes driver, who will start sixth on the grid, reportedly suffered from the Lotus driver’s slowness between turns 12 and 15, according to the FIA statement.
Jenson Button, Adrian Sutil, and Sergio Pérez, who were behind the Finn, will start seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively. Iceman will be just ahead of his teammate, Romain Grosjean, who is ranked eleventh.
