Räikkönen has not planned anything for 2014 yet

True to his laid-back reputation, Kimi Räikkönen stated on the sidelines of the Chinese Grand Prix that he still had no idea what he would do in 2014. With his contract with Lotus ending at the end of this season, the Finn is keeping the door open to all proposals.

Räikkönen has not planned anything for 2014 yet

As the small world of Formula 1 prepares to race the third Grand Prix of the season in China on the Shanghai circuit, early rumors are beginning to flow about the future of various drivers.

Among these, one rumor suggests that Kimi Räikkönen, the current Lotus driver, might join the Red Bull team in 2014. Although the Finnish driver has indeed not signed any contract for the next season, either with Lotus or elsewhere, it seems this situation doesn’t disturb him much and leaves the door open to all possibilities: « There are always a lot of rumors in Formula 1; it’s normal. I don’t have a contract for next year and I don’t have any plans. Of course, I’ll probably be around next year. But you never know… it’s a nice place, we will see. »

Räikkönen does not specify, however, whether he is talking about Formula 1 in general or his current team, Lotus. This fuels the rumors of a possible transfer to Red Bull in place of a Mark Webber weakened after the events of Sepang: « Every team has a different way of being managed. And I have always looked for the same thing in each of them. As I have always said, every team is different and I have had good times in each. »

However, the Finn seems particularly at ease within Lotus, especially if the team allows him to achieve victories: « I wouldn’t say I’m better here than with others, because I’ve never had problems elsewhere. It’s just different. »
