Thursday: Toro Rosso can do better
Even though the two Toro Rosso drivers finished quite far back today in Monaco, they believe they can do better by Saturday. Vergne and Ricciardo are confident for the rest of the weekend.
Daniel Ricciardo – 18th and 16th:
I really appreciate city circuits and this one in particular, however, this morning we were slower than we hoped. I’m sure if we find more speed for Saturday then it will be even more enjoyable. Jev and I did not run with the same settings and there’s more to come from me as well, because you can always find a little more driver performance on a city track. We have one more day than usual to analyze everything and we will also make some changes for Saturday. I am confident that we can improve and I still hope to be in the top 10 but we have a bit of work to do to get there. Regarding the tires, it’s the usual story, the supersofts are faster and the softs last better, but I think making only one stop during Sunday’s race might prove more difficult than last year.
Jean-Eric Vergne – 15th and 17th:
« It has been a good day with many laps covered. On this circuit, the driver’s confidence is an important factor, and you gain confidence with each lap you do, feeling that you can attack more each time. My last long stint seemed pretty good at the end of the session this afternoon. Now, we need to put all the best elements together in order to improve our overall performance, and I think we can do well on Saturday, much better than the history suggests with today’s timesheet. »
