Thursday: Ferrari seems in good form in Monaco

Fernando Alonso – 2nd and 3rd:

« It’s always nice to drive in Monaco, even if it’s very demanding because here more than anywhere else, you need a lot of track time to get used to the course, and more generally, to get accustomed to this very special race. I’m thrilled that we were able to complete the entire scheduled program today, which is not always guaranteed here because anything can happen! Even if the initial signs are positive and we had a day without encountering any issues, we still don’t have a clear idea of the hierarchy.

We will have to wait a bit to see where our rivals stand, because here too, before Saturday, no one attacks at 100%: the rails pose too great a danger to take risks during the first practice sessions. It is not very interesting to make a tire comparison here, we only did one and the results were not very surprising: the super softs are faster and degrade more. All that matters now is spending time analyzing the data we collected to try to find the best strategy for qualifying and the race.

Felipe Massa – 4th and 4th:

« The weekend started on the right foot, the car performed well, and I managed to find a good rhythm. I finished in the top 5 in both sessions, which is important for such an unpredictable event as the Monaco Grand Prix. However, we are aware that we still have a lot of work to do. Now, we need to analyze all the available data and try to find the right direction to go, because here it is vital to have a car that is both competitive in qualifying and consistent in the race. Mercedes showed they were faster, and it will not be easy to finish ahead of them in qualifying, but I am confident that we have what it takes to fight with them. »
