Ogier interested in Formula 1
Present in Monaco this weekend to race in the Porsche Supercup, Sébastien Ogier admitted he would like to test a Formula 1 single-seater one day.
Sébastien Ogier is present this weekend in Monaco to race in the Porsche Supercup as a guest driver, alongside Sébastien Loeb who has already raced in Barcelona driving a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with Martini sponsorship and the number 88 and is once again present in Monaco.
Ogier, more accustomed to rallying behind the wheel of his Volkswagen Polo WRC, was notably spotted with the Infini-Red Bull Racing team yesterday – with which he shares a sponsor, the energy drink brand Red Bull. The native of Gap thus had the opportunity to meet Sebastian Vettel, the reigning three-time world champion.
Ogier expressed his desire to discover F1 from the inside through a test, as his former WRC teammate and rival Sébastien Loeb did in 2008, as he revealed to RMC Sport: « I would be interested in doing a test. If the opportunity ever arises, I would be very happy to try it. Racing in F1 is certainly not possible, but I hope the idea of doing a test will come to fruition. We’ve already discussed it with Red Bull, but there’s nothing concrete yet. I hope it can happen, especially since Seb [Vettel] would like to try my Polo, so why not. »
