Massa penalized by 5 grid places at Monaco

Victim of an accident during the last free practice session of the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, Felipe Massa – who is already facing significant doubts about his participation in the qualifying session due to the condition of his car – is already assured of not starting in optimal conditions as he will receive a 5-place grid penalty.

This penalty follows the gearbox change on his Ferrari F138, damaged in the crash. The accident occurred at the end of the pit straight when the Brazilian’s car, instead of starting to turn into the San Devote corner, went straight into the safety barriers on the left of the track, finally coming to a stop in the famous escape road.

It is worth noting that he is not the only driver to have fallen victim to the street circuit during these FP3 sessions, as Adrian Sutil and Romain Grosjean – for the second time this weekend – were also involved in accidents.
