James Allison would collaborate with Honda for its return in 2015

The announcement caused quite a stir a few weeks ago:

Honda will make its return as the engine supplier for the McLaren team in 2015. The new regulations concerning power units have seemingly attracted the Japanese manufacturer, which is giving itself more than a year to develop its new engine.

In order to test its findings on the track, Honda reportedly called upon James Allison, former technical director of Lotus who recently resigned, to develop a test single-seater that can run on the Suzuka and Motegi tracks in Japan.

In any case, this is what Luis Vasconcelos, journalist for the Finnish daily Turun Sanomat, reports: According to our sources, Allison has accepted the offer and will lead a small working group to produce a test car for Honda’s turbo engines.

According to the journalist, Allison should start his work as early as 2014. Following his resignation from Lotus, persistent rumors linked the engineer to Ferrari, Mercedes, or McLaren. This connection with Honda could materialize in the future with the team based in Woking. However, no official announcement has been made by McLaren and Honda.
