Renault is expected to supply engines to four teams in 2014

This season, Renault powers four Formula 1 teams – Red Bull, Lotus, Williams, and Caterham – which is more than a third of the grid. The French engine manufacturer has never hidden its desire to power as many or even more teams in the future, especially with the arrival of the V6.

However, things should remain the same in 2014 as Jean-Michel Jalinier, quoted by Reuters, revealed: “We will very likely end up with four teams.”

Renault will indeed continue with Red Bull, and the loss of Williams has been compensated by the arrival of Toro Rosso. As for Lotus and Caterham, whose partnerships for 2014 have not yet been signed, Jalinier remains confident.

« The discussions with Lotus and Caterham have progressed. It’s almost done with them, so there is a strong probability that we will end up with four [teams] in 2014, » stated the CEO of Renault Sport F1.

Official announcements could even be made in the coming days as the diamond brand will present its 1.6L Turbo V6 engine, which will be used in Formula 1 from 2014, at the Bourget Show that began today, Monday, June 17 and will end on June 23.
