Saturday: The top 10 is still far away for Williams
Pastor Maldonado could do no better than 16th place and Valtteri Bottas 17th during today's qualifying at Silverstone. Both men had hoped to be closer to the top 10 and know there is still work to be done to achieve that goal.
Pastor Maldonado – 13th and 16th:
« We expected to be a little closer to the top 10 today, but we struggled to put everything together on a lap. Hopefully tomorrow we can work on our race pace and fight with the teams around us to gain positions. We need to continue improving as a team because we are not yet where we want to be, but race by race, we aim to close the gap. »
Valtteri Bottas – 16th and 17th:
« We were unlucky to miss Q2 today because I was very close to my teammate and we could have both made it through. There are always things you can do better on a lap, but we didn’t have the pace to be in the top 10 today, so we need to do everything we can to get closer. We will study the strategy for tomorrow and try to maximize our potential for the race. »
