Sunday: Bianchi fails behind Pic’s Caterham

Jules Bianchi spent most of the race behind Charles Pic's Caterham at Silverstone but never managed to pass it. The Marussia driver had hoped for a bit more, but his car wasn't competitive enough. Max Chilton finished behind his teammate and ahead of the second Caterham driven by Giedo van der Garde.

Sunday: Bianchi fails behind Pic’s Caterham

Jules Bianchi – 16th:

« Overall, a tough race that began with a bad start. After that, I just had to follow Charles [Pic], but it was difficult to stay with him because the Caterham was stronger today. We decided to pit earlier, but then the safety car came out, so the strategy didn’t work out for us. For the rest of the race, it was the same story until the last intervention of the safety car, which could have been a new opportunity to pass, but even though the gap was small, we couldn’t overtake. It hasn’t been an easy weekend, and we have a few days to prepare before heading to Germany where we hope for better days. »

Max Chilton – 17th:

« Today was a day I will never forget. I was really excited on the grid and got a good start, which helped. I was able to pass Jules and Pic at the start, they came back, and I regained my position and had a nice battle in the first few laps. They just had a slightly better pace for a few laps, and I ended up behind van der Garde. I passed him towards the end, and we could have stayed like that until the end of the Grand Prix, but the safety car came out, and he was able to pit, so that played in his favor. He had the last 10 laps on fresh tires, and I had worn tires. We had a good fight, but I managed to keep him behind me in the end. Overall, it was a busy weekend with lots of new experiences for me. »
