Saturday: Great team performance at Red Bull
The Red Bull drivers did not manage to secure pole position today, but both men are lurking behind Lewis Hamilton. Sebastian Vettel is on the front row, with Mark Webber right behind him, and both will try to fight for the victory.
Sebastian Vettel – 1st and 2nd
Congratulations to Lewis on the pole. It was very tight today, I tried everything. The car was good; I struggled a bit this afternoon in the first sector, losing time there, and then tried to catch up. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, but it seems we are closer to Mercedes here than at Silverstone, so I think we’ve made good progress and can be confident for tomorrow. We did a good stint yesterday in preparation for the race, so I think we’ve done our homework. We’ve positioned the car on the front row; it wasn’t enough for pole position, but we should have a good race from there tomorrow.
Mark Webber – 3rd and 3rd
I was really delighted with this 3rd position today, as it was complicated. We lost a bit in the first stint and struggled to find the pace we had in free practice 3, but we know there was a change in temperature and that bunched everyone up a bit, at least for the short stints. With the long stints, we are happy with the car, so we are in a good position to put pressure for the victory tomorrow.
