Friday: Mercedes suffers in the Hungarian inferno

Having been deprived of testing the new tires at Silverstone last week, and with temperatures being more than high in Hungary, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg do not expect to perform miracles this weekend. However, both drivers are optimistic and hope to make the progress that will allow them to return to the front.

Friday: Mercedes suffers in the Hungarian inferno

Lewis Hamilton – 13th and 6th

« We did a few laps with the new tires today, which is positive and gave us a lot of information to analyze and integrate into our program for the weekend. We arrived this weekend a bit behind without having been able to test the new tires. The balance seems different, and we need to work on the right settings, but we learned throughout the day, made some changes, and will make even more for tomorrow. It’s difficult to know how the weekend will go for us. The others seem fast, but generally, we can extract a bit more from the car in qualifying, so we’ll see how tomorrow goes. »

Nico Rosberg – 8th and 7th

« It was a busy day for us and we learned a lot in both free practice sessions. We knew it would be a challenge for our car in these hot conditions and we also had to learn things about the new tires for the first time today. I am pleased with the progress we made today, but some of the other teams seem fast here so we still have work to do. Tire overheating is still an issue but I think we will be able to find the right settings and I hope we achieve a decent result this weekend. »
