Sunday: No miracle for Marussia drivers
After a very successful qualifying session that saw both Marussia drivers qualify for Q2, the race was not as enjoyable. Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton lost many positions at the start and ultimately finished at the back of the pack.
Jules Bianchi – 18th:
« It was a difficult race today, made even harder by the fact that I had a radio problem right from the start. Our pace wasn’t as good as hoped, which is a shame. Even though we knew it would be difficult to maintain our grid positions if it didn’t rain, we expected more after yesterday’s good result. Since it stayed dry, we didn’t have the opportunities we hoped for. However, we finished with both cars and continue to hold our position in the championship, so we will now turn our attention to Monza for more improvements. »
Max Chilton – 19th
« It was a long race today, not just because of the number of laps and the mileage, but also because the dry conditions made the race uneventful for us. The threat of rain meant we had planned and were ready for many different scenarios to be in a position to seize any opportunity to move up the ranks, but in the end, all that work was unnecessary. So we’re disappointed with the race but encouraged by the signs shown earlier in the weekend and hopefully we can do even more at Monza in two weeks. »
