Saturday: Lotus Lacking Competitiveness at Monza

The Lotus drivers are not celebrating after the Italian Grand Prix qualifying session, and for good reason, neither of them managed to qualify for Q3. Kimi Räikkönen will start from 11th place tomorrow and Romain Grosjean from 13th, but both men will give it their all to avoid leaving empty-handed.

Saturday: Lotus Lacking Competitiveness at Monza

Kimi Räikkönen – 10th and 11th:

« We simply weren’t fast enough today. We’ve struggled a bit this weekend so far and it was really unfortunate today. This just isn’t our style of circuit and layout where we need to have small wings. The car behaved quite well but we didn’t have enough downforce to be fast in corners with our low-drag package. Hopefully, it will be better tomorrow, but I’m not expecting huge surprises. But no matter, we’ll do the best we can. »

Romain Grosjean – 14th and 13th:

« Today, it was difficult for us because we had no grip. I was a bit surprised by how yesterday’s tests went, but today it was simply a different story. The aerodynamic setup for Monza is not simple, and it didn’t go as we would have liked. I hope we find better grip for tomorrow and that we are able to produce a good race. »
