Friday: Marussia aims to outpace its opponent this weekend
After not being in a position to compete with Caterham in the last races, the Marussia drivers feel they are once again in a position to fight against the green drivers. Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi will try everything to get ahead of them, especially on a track that could reshuffle the deck for this mini-championship between the tenth and eleventh teams on the grid.
Max Chilton – 20th and 21st
« I am quite satisfied with how the day went for me, even though I am not as satisfied as I would be if I had managed to maintain our position from this morning! That being said, we are really close in terms of lap times, and we have done a lot of work with the car to be able to move in the right direction for tomorrow. We tried several things and I think once we take all that to fine-tune the car’s settings, we will be in pretty good shape for qualifying. Really not a bad start. »
Jules Bianchi – 19th and 22nd
« It was the first time I ran on this track today, and with the experience of racing during the total night, I must say that it’s quite sensational. We had a pretty big program to complete, and although we tried several things to gather data, we lost our positional advantage over Caterham during the first session, which is a bit of a shame. Nevertheless, our times are very close given that I couldn’t solve my understeer problems this evening, so I feel quite confident for tomorrow, and that we can have a great battle this weekend.”
