Lotus: Romain Grosjean is confident ahead of India

After two consecutive podium finishes, Romain Grosjean seems to have regained the confidence he had at the beginning of the 2012 season. The Frenchman does not hide his optimism for the future but remains focused on the work for the remaining races, starting with the Indian Grand Prix taking place next Sunday.

Lotus: Romain Grosjean is confident ahead of India

Solid third place at the Japanese Grand Prix, behind the Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, Romain Grosjean has been on a very good run since the start of the Asian tour: qualifying, at the very least, in the top four in Singapore, South Korea, and Japan, the Franco-Swiss driver has secured two podiums in the last two races.

A good form that coincides with the resurgence of the Lotus’s performance and allows R. Grosjean to look forward to the end of the season with optimism: « I really feel good with the car, my confidence is greater after each race and I am very happy with the team, so I will continue to work hard to improve in the areas where I need it and we will continue to fight for very good results until the end of the season. »

The next race, in India, will be an opportunity to test the improvements of the E21, especially since last year’s race was disappointing, with Kimi Räikkönen finishing 7th and Romain Grosjean 9th. “It’s fair to say that last year we struggled to find grip and set up the cars properly, so I hope we can perform better this time. The tires used were quite hard for the track in 2012, but this year they are softer, which could help us and provide a better race,” he explained on the Enstone team’s website. “Our car is really performing well at the moment, so I think we could be strong again.”

At the end of 2012, the situation of the French driver was uncomfortable, to say the least, with serious questions arising about the future of his career in the top category after the Spa incident and the mixed results at the end of the season. This all led to the late official announcement of the Geneva native as Lotus’ second driver. By the end of /f1/actualite/16390-transferts-2014-le-jeu-de-chaises-musicales-est-en-marche.html, things have changed, and Romain Grosjean now seems almost assured of being in the team in 2014: Eric Boullier has indeed indicated that it was now considered a formality.

For *RoGro*, the future seems to be mapped out, but the focus remains on the present: « At the moment, I’m working to give my best in each remaining race and I think that’s the best approach right now. As soon as the season is over, I will take a little break and recharge my batteries, then we will be back to see the launch of the new cars and to test them. It will be an interesting challenge with all the new rules coming next season. A new era is coming for the sport, and it’s always very exciting. »
