Recalculated wind tunnel test times for teams from January 1, 2024
Wind tunnel times for each team are limited by the regulations. They are calculated on the basis of last season's constructors' standings. Red Bull is the team that will use its wind tunnel the least, while Haas is the one that will benefit the most.
The use of the wind tunnel and CFD tools are essential for F1 teams. These allow teams to test improvements, introduced during the winter and during the season, on the single-seater. However, these tests do not always accurately reflect the behavior of the car, unlike Grand Prix circuits.
The wind tunnel testing times are however limited in order to limit the gap between the teams during the season. They are calculated inversely proportional to the constructor’s ranking. This gives a chance for the last ones to catch up on their performance delay and for the champion not to dig, in theory, an abyssal gap with the rest of the field.

These testing times are valid from January 1st to June 24th, 2024. New wind tunnel testing times will be granted after mid-season 2024, depending on the manufacturer’s ranking at that specific time.
