Official: Eric Boullier replaced by Gérard Lopez at Lotus!
After a first warning in December, the news is official this time: Eric Boullier will no longer be the director of Lotus F1. He is replaced by Gérard Lopez.
Through a press release, Team Lotus F1 announced that Gérard Lopez, co-owner of the Enstone team, will combine this role with that of team director.
Gérard Lopez, the new team director, even announced a new sponsor: « Lotus F1 has never stopped and we are heading towards what promises to be an exciting 2014 season with a new innovative car, new partners, and a new management structure in Enstone. Great things have been achieved in recent years and we must continue this momentum. In this spirit, we are proud to announce that we have reached an agreement with YotaPhone and its shareholders. The shareholders of YotaPhone will become important partners of Genii and YotaPhone will be a sponsor for the Lotus F1 team this year. »
The Luxembourger wanted to acknowledge Eric Boullier’s work: « We thank Eric for his hard work over the past four years and we are confident that we can continue to compete as one of the top teams in Formula 1 in the coming seasons. »
