Bahrain Testing 2 – Day 2 (Morning): Pérez Ahead Again, Red Bull and Lotus Behind
Sergio Pérez will start the midday meal with the fastest provisional time, just like yesterday. The Mexican is ahead of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. Jules Bianchi is fourth while at Red Bull and Lotus, the pace isn't there.
As yesterday, it’s Sergio Pérez in his Mercedes-powered Force India VJM07 who took the advantage during the morning session of the second day of testing in Bahrain. The Mexican completed a lap in 1:35.570, slower than his performance yesterday (1:35.290). We remind you that the Motors Inside editorial team provides full live coverage of these tests.
Behind the Force India No. 11, we find Fernando Alonso, a few hundredths behind. He is followed by Jenson Button, who caused the second red flag of the morning after stopping his McLaren on the track. The Briton completed “only” 20 laps of the Sakhir circuit, one of the lowest totals of the morning. The Woking team hopes to be able to restart the MP4-29 in the afternoon.
Jules Bianchi and his Marussia are in a surprising 4th position, ahead of the most persistent on the track, Lewis Hamilton (over 60 laps), who triggered the first red flag of the morning with a minor off-track excursion.
On the Renault engine side, Lotus (24 laps) and especially Red Bull (15 laps) ran less than the others. The Austrian team took nearly three hours to set a first time.
