Saturday: Bianchi and Marussia Ready to Seize Opportunities
On the Marussia side, the session was not experienced in the same way by Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton, with the former being satisfied with his day, while the latter felt that there was room for improvement.
Jules Bianchi (n°17) – 18th and 19th
For the Frenchman, the session was good, as he is the first among the backmarker teams and there were no issues to report: I think it was a good qualifying session […] where we had no problems with the ERS management, so it’s positive. Now, we need to work on the difficulties we encountered in the wet for the first time. Conditions were very changeable, so timing was always crucial.
He expects to be able to achieve an interesting result if the race is lively: « Now, we will continue to work for the race, because I think we can achieve a good result if the circumstances are in our favor and we do our best in everything. »
Max Chilton (No. 4) – 17th and 21st
On the British side, the perspective is different. He believes that he had better prospects but the circumstances did not help: « A slightly frustrating qualification after being on pace all weekend. In these conditions, you have one chance to put everything together, and the only time I had a clear lap was when I no longer had ERS. I also had traffic during my flying lap, so it was a bit of a messy session, which is a shame because I was quite confident in the car. »
He is also hungry for opportunities: « We do not yet know what tomorrow will bring, but I am prepared for any eventuality regarding the conditions and I believe I have a car that can take advantage of all opportunities. »
