Sunday: Hülkenberg puts his Force India in the top 5

Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 5th

« The result today is a superb performance from the team and I am very satisfied with this fifth place. » This result is partly due to a perfectly executed two-stop strategy: « We were the only team among the leaders to run a two-stop race, and we had a good pace throughout the afternoon. » The German emphasizes the work done by his team and how much it makes him feel good « to be so competitive and to fight at the front. »

The race wasn’t without its challenges, however, with significant tire management to handle: I felt a bit better on the medium tires than the hard ones, but we always kept the tire management under control. Nico Hülkenberg is pleased with this result and the fact that his team and he can take all these positives to Bahrain and leave Malaysia with these good points.

Sergio Pérez (No. 11) – Non-starter

After a disappointing qualifying compared to his teammate, the young Mexican hoped to make up for it in the race. However, his car had other plans, not allowing him to leave the pit lane for the grid lineup. « We are still investigating the cause of the problem, but the car kept shifting to neutral when I was changing gears to go to the grid. We couldn’t find a solution after bringing it back to the garage. »

Sergio Pérez now wants to focus on the positives after a nonexistent race: « We learned a lot this weekend, and I hope we can come back stronger in Bahrain. ». The Mexican had a frustrating weekend but won’t have to wait long to make up for it: « We will race again in 7 days and I look forward to leaving this disappointment behind us. »
