Show in F1: Hamilton and Alonso Request More Time
When asked about the spectacle, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso state that it's a bit early to judge the 2014 Formula 1 season.
Criticism erupts regarding Formula 1 version /f1/actualite/17264-spectacle-en-f1-reunion-durgence-entre-ecclestone-todt-et-di-montezemolo.html and an emergency meeting is even expected in Bahrain between Jean Todt, Bernie Ecclestone, and Luca di Montezemolo regarding the issue of the spectacle in F1, which is currently considered nonexistent even though the change in technological era seemed to promise it.
Hamilton: « A little time before judging this season »
Lewis Hamilton believes that the criticisms from the Ferrari president on the spectacle are inconsistent: « Di Montezemolo didn’t say anything when Michael [Schumacher] was winning 5 titles [in a row]. Same thing when McLaren won all their titles, they didn’t say anything, and the same for Red Bull when they were winning, they didn’t say anything. Someone else is ahead and they say something. That’s the game, though. »
The 2008 World Champion referring to kart racing: « Karting produces the best races because you see natural talent since everyone has the same vehicle and similar engines, and you see a little train, with overtaking at every corner. »
« Formula 1 is different. It has different technology, is a different competition… We are in a time where technology means everything, and the fact is that Mercedes has developed better technology than everyone, has generally done a better job this season… » he adds, as quoted by Reuters.
In conclusion, he asks for a little patience: « Red Bull had the best car but that could change this year. It’s positive… It takes a little time before judging this season. »

If the Spanish driver acknowledges that the show can be improved, he explains that there is no need to rush: « We must try to produce a better show, but we need to think about how and give new races time. »
For him, the spectacle of the first two races isn’t necessarily representative of what the show will be like at other Grand Prix races: “We’ve only done two… There will be more exciting races and some boring ones,” he said to the BBC, before launching into a football metaphor: “Sometimes, you watch a 0-0 and it’s a horrible match and then, the following week, you see a 5-4 and you enjoy the game.”
« We are all looking forward to this exciting race that everyone loves, and we will see this weekend if we can do something better, » he concluded.
For his part, Kimi Räikkonen rather agrees with the opinion expressed by Sergio Pérez on Thursday, explaining that he expects more spectacle from F1: « The race itself should be even more exciting. I want more battles, real wheel-to-wheel battles, but it’s not easy when, at the same time, you want to make the cars more sophisticated, » he regretted to Loala1, an Austrian media.
