Friday: Toro Rosso and Kvyat hope for a good weekend
After an encouraging first day, the two Toro Rosso drivers are focusing on the work to be done until tomorrow, to gain a bit more performance.
Daniil Kvyat – 8th and 8th
After finishing in the points consecutively in his first two races, Daniil Kvyat had a good start to the weekend: « We completed a lot of laps, without major problems. » The Russian driver wasn’t bothered by driving under floodlights but admits that the dropping temperatures make a difference: « Comparing the two types of tires, clearly the softs are faster than the mediums, but overall, tonight, the times were quicker with the significant drop in temperature. »
The young Toro Rosso driver is now focusing on what’s next: « We will analyze the data with the engineers and I hope we will have a solid weekend. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 12th and 12th
After an unfortunate race in Malaysia, the Frenchman wanted to start the weekend well: “It wasn’t a bad Friday, even if we didn’t start the day with a perfect car.” However, the progress was significant in free practice 2, and Jean-Eric Vergne hopes for even more: “We improved during the second session, and I’m sure we can make the same step forward for tomorrow’s free practice 3.”
The Toro Rosso driver knows that there is still work to be done to get the most out of his car: « I am confident that there is a bit more to come, so it’s an encouraging start. »
