Bahrain Grand Prix: News of Esteban Gutierrez
While the Mexican was taking the first corner of the Sakhir track for the 41st time, his Sauber was hit by Pastor Maldonado. The collision sent Esteban Gutierrez rolling over, leaving him shaken but conscious. The Sauber driver ultimately passed all medical tests without any issues and was released by the hospital.
The collision between Esteban Gutierrez and Pastor Maldonado brought out the safety car during the Bahrain Grand Prix. Indeed, the Mexican’s Sauber flipped over, an image that had not been seen for a long time in Formula 1. Esteban Gutierrez seemed stunned after the impact but was able to get out of his car on his own.
To detect any consequences of this accident, Esteban Gutierrez underwent an X-ray examination at the medical center of the Sakhir circuit. The Mexican is now being sent to a military hospital for more thorough examinations. However, the news seems quite reassuring, as the Sauber driver did not lose consciousness either during the impact or afterwards.

A little later in the evening, Sauber decided to share news about Esteban Gutierrez: the Mexican driver is well and has been released from the hospital.

On its side, the FIA held Pastor Maldonado responsible for this accident, and applied a triple sanction to the Lotus driver.
