Sunday: The battle with Vettel turns in favor of Ricciardo at Red Bull
The Bahraini race was finally the one for points and a top 5 finish for Daniel Ricciardo, who delivered a great battle against his teammate. Sebastian Vettel, however, would have liked to finish higher but a lack of top speed hindered him.

At the end of the race, the Australian shared his thoughts on the event: « It was a great race, it was exciting! I think the first stint was a bit of a procession, but from the second stint, the race really started to heat up and there were more battles at the front and the back: it was good to be a part of it. »
He narrowly misses the podium, falling short by a few tenths to Sergio Pérez at the finish line: « We finished close to the podium today, I think within half a second, so I did everything I could. The car came to me as the race went on and I was happy with how I moved through the pack. »
The race was also marked by a battle with his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, which he enjoyed: « It was quite fun racing against Sebastian, it was tough but fair, and we gave each other space. That’s what we want from each other and we talked about it beforehand, we are drivers and that’s what we love to do. »
Sebastian Vettel (No. 1) – 6th
The four-time world champion believes that the race was eventful but his teammate’s performance suggests there was more to be done: « I think it was a very active race today, especially at the end with the safety car, but it’s a shame we couldn’t finish higher. Daniel proved there was a bit more to get out of the car, I really couldn’t find that little thing, so I’m not happy. »
The problem with the German’s RB10 was related to straight-line top speed: « For several reasons, we seemed really slow in the straights, and not just against the Mercedes. Mercedes has the strongest package, so there is work ahead of us. »
His battle with Ricciardo pleased him but he would have liked to do better personally: « It was simple today with Daniel, we worked well together as a team and raced well, but obviously, I would have liked to finish higher. »
