Sunday: Maldonado takes out Gutierrez and Bianchi takes out Sutil at Sauber

While the Sauber suffers from being overweight, both drivers couldn't even reach the finish. While Esteban Gutierrez saw his car flip after a contact with Pastor Maldonado, Adrian Sutil's race was ruined much earlier after a collision with Jules Bianchi.

Sunday: Maldonado takes out Gutierrez and Bianchi takes out Sutil at Sauber

Esteban Gutierrez – Retirement (collision)

Esteban Gutierrez’s race was relatively anonymous before his impressive crash with Pastor Maldonado: « First of all, the most important thing is that I’m okay. The hospital staff ran all the tests and everything is fine. Regarding the accident, I was completely surprised that Pastor, who was coming out of the pits, hit me. I was clearly ahead of him. »

During this collision, the Sauber driver saw his car flip, but he was able to exit without injury. The Lotus driver was found guilty of the incident and was penalized: « I was turning into the corner when I was suddenly hit, and I flipped over. There was nothing I could do. »

Adrian Sutil – Retirement (collision)

Adrian Sutil’s race ended quite quickly: Jules [Bianchi] braked too late and hit me at the hairpin. There was nothing I could do to avoid it, and my car was damaged. He drove aggressively throughout the race and pushed me at the start. The Frenchman was penalized for this incident, receiving a two-point penalty on his license.

« Overall, the weekend was difficult for us. I wanted to finish the race to have covered more kilometers and also to gain experience in the car. » Just like the other drivers in the F1 Circus, Adrian Sutil looks ahead, with an advantage: « The next race in China will come quickly, so it can only get better. »
