Saturday: Vergne places Toro Rosso in Q3

Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25) – 12th and 9th

After a complicated free practice session, Jean-Eric Vergne managed to save himself in Q1 in the last seconds and made his way to Q3: « I am really satisfied with my qualification, it was a great lap. I am pleased with myself with all my qualifying laps so far this year, which have been good laps without error. » In these difficult conditions, the Frenchman knew how to execute the perfect lap « I think I did it ».

Regarding tomorrow, Jean-Eric Vergne is optimistic. The weather forecasts say it will be dry, which suits our car much better, so we can expect a good race. The Toro Rosso driver now hopes for a problem-free race where everything goes well: I will do my best at the start and from ninth position on the grid, if everything goes right, we can definitely aim for some points.

Daniil Kvyat (No.26) – 7th and 13th

After performing well during the free practice sessions, Daniil Kvyat collapsed in qualifying: « It was a very tricky qualifying session today, and even though I gave my maximum, I wasn’t able to go faster. » While he was dominating his teammate in the morning, the balance of power reversed: « It seems I lost a lot of grip between this morning and qualifying, so I’m eager to look at the data. »

Despite this poor qualification, the young Toro Rosso driver is optimistic for the race: “I think we can still have a good race tomorrow, especially if the track stays dry.”
