Rossi will drive for Caterham in Canada and the United States
The reserve driver for the Caterham team, Alexander Rossi, will take the wheel of the CT05 twice this season.
Caterham announced that Alexander Rossi, its American reserve driver, will be driving during the Free Practice 1 sessions of the Grand Prix held on the North American continent, in Canada from June 6 to 8 and in the United States from October 31 to November 2.
The reserve driver is also competing in GP2 this season, for the Malaysian team’s junior team. He finished 22nd and 25th in the two races held in Bahrain, alongside the F1 Grand Prix. The dates of the races when he will drive the CT05 do not coincide with GP2 weekends.
Cyril Abiteboul, director of the Caterham F1 team, explains Rossi’s upcoming role: « While his attention this season is completely on GP2, we are happy to give him additional opportunities to play an active role in the F1 team’s race weekend and help us develop our car during two races that are very important for us. »
Alexander Rossi is thrilled about this new step: « Every time I take a step into the F1 machinery, there is important work to be done. Montreal and Austin are important races for me, and I want to thank Caterham for the opportunity to continue my development towards a full-time seat in F1. »
