Friday: Massa and Williams hope to compete with Red Bull and Ferrari

Valtteri Bottas (No. 77) – 5th and 7th

For the Finn, the day was calm but he knows that better things are to come with the softer tires: « It’s more or less what we expected. We got some good results from the changes made since the last race […]. It seems that everyone is having trouble with getting the soft tires up to temperature, but the super-softs seem much better. I think we can improve our overall performance compared to today. I didn’t sign a perfect lap with the super-softs, so I think there’s still a bit more to come. »

Felipe Massa (No. 19) – 17th and 6th

Despite a lack of running due to a morning issue, the Brazilian made up for lost time and hopes to give Mercedes’ challengers a hard time: « It was a good Friday. Unfortunately, I lost some running this morning, but in the afternoon we were able to do a lot to understand the settings, the tires, and the long runs. I was happy with the balance today. I hope we can have a very competitive car on this track, and I hope we can fight with Red Bull and Ferrari, which is never easy. »
