The clash between Sergio Pérez and Felipe Massa will be reviewed

Judged responsible for the accident between him and Felipe Massa, in the final lap of the Canadian Grand Prix, Sergio Pérez could see his 5-place grid penalty modified or annulled. Indeed, the FIA stewards of the Austrian Grand Prix are proceeding with a review of the collision.

Force India made this request based on allegedly new elements. In its document inviting the stewards to rule again, the FIA asked them:

« 1. To determine whether or not there is a new element in accordance with article 13.10.2 of the Code sportif;

2. If such an element exists, conduct a new hearing to take this new element(s) into account. »

The meeting between the commissioners, Force India, and Sergio Pérez will take place this Friday, June 20 at 9:00 AM and could lead to a hearing of the two drivers involved. In Montreal, due to their stay at the hospital, both men were not present at the hearing, and the decision was made without their testimonies. In the days following this incident, both parties have blamed each other with grand statements and tweets.

Revealing a certain indecision regarding the proposed images, in a survey published on our site a few hours after the end of the GP, gathering 457 voters at the time these lines were written, 172 of you (37.6%) thought the fault lay with Sergio Pérez against 167 (36.5%) who thought it was Felipe Massa’s. 118 voters (25.8%) believed that this collision was just a racing incident.
