Friday: Vergne and Toro Rosso have a good race pace
Victim of a new wheel problem, Toro Rosso can be satisfied with an overall good day, which suggests a good pace for Sunday's Grand Prix.
Daniil Kvyat (no.26) – 8th and 12th
The Russian is rather laconic when discussing his day: « It was a normal Friday where we tried to carry out our program. The conditions were quite difficult. It was windy and the track was slippery. »
As is often the case, the car doesn’t satisfy the driver 100%, but Kvyat hopes to make progress tomorrow morning: « Regarding the car’s balance, I wasn’t completely satisfied today, so as usual, we’ll look at all the data tonight and find a way to improve tomorrow. »
Jean-Eric Vergne (n°25) – 9th and 10th
The day for the French driver ended earlier than expected due to a new issue with a wheel. However, he mainly focuses on the promising race pace: « Apart from the incident at the end of FP2, it was a good day. The performance on the short runs wasn’t where we wanted it, but the long runs seem very good. If we can figure out how to be faster in the short runs, I think the rest of the weekend will be encouraging. It’s not like […] in Austria where we looked very good from Friday. So we have work to do to find how to go faster. »
