Sunday: Hülkenberg puts Force India in the points again
Once again finishing in the points at the end of the British Grand Prix of F1, Nico Hülkenberg nevertheless struggled due to strong winds at Silverstone. As for Sergio Pérez, it was the collision with Jean-Eric Vergne that proved costly.
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 8th
For the German, the Grand Prix did not start well, particularly due to the weather conditions: « It was a very tricky afternoon. My start wasn’t great; I lost two places, and after that, we didn’t seem to have the pace to fight for big points. I struggled with the balance, which may have been related to the wind because there were a lot of gusts. »
However, not everything is to be discarded, especially this 8th points finish in 8 races: « I had some good battles, especially in the early laps, but we just lacked the performance to really fight today. It’s good to score points, but starting 4th, we were hoping for more. »
Sergio Pérez (#11) – 11th
For the Mexican, it was from the first corners that this race took a bad turn: « We really couldn’t judge what our true pace was because the contact with Vergne at the start compromised our race. We fell to last place and from there, it was very difficult to salvage anything in this race. »
« I struggled with the hard tires early in the race, which should have been the best time to make up the ground I lost. The car seemed much better with the medium tires after our stop, but our final stint wasn’t enough to get back into the points, » he stated.
