Sunday: Kvyat all fired up for Toro Rosso at Hockenheim

Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25) – 13th

For the Frenchman, everything was going well until a penalty was imposed following an off-track overtake on Romain Grosjean: « I had a good race until I had to take a 5-second penalty during my second stop, which compromised any chance to score points. After that, I went back on track with super-soft tires, which are very fragile in traffic. Very quickly, my front-left tire was too damaged and I was forced to stop once more to fit soft tires until the end. I think points were possible. »

Daniil Kvyat (No. 26) – Retirement (engine)

For the Russian, the first turning point of the race was the collision with Sergio Pérez on the 9th lap: « My first stint seemed correct until the contact with Perez, which made me lose ground. I think I didn’t take enough care of my tires during the second stint, where I was trying to come back and gain positions. »

And his race ended in flames: « The last stint seemed good in terms of pace, but I suddenly lost power and saw smoke and then flames in the mirrors. I started getting really hot in the car, so I parked it and jumped out as quickly as possible. »
