Saturday: Williams F1 Better Than Expected Against Red Bull and Ferrari
Although they expected to struggle, the Williams drivers, led by Valtteri Bottas, held their own against their direct competitors in the Hungarian Grand Prix Formula 1 qualifying and can aim for big points.
Valtteri Bottas (No. 77) – 5th and 3rd
For the Finn, the second row is a bit surprising but highlights the good work of his team: « We might be a little surprised. We knew Red Bull would be very fast here, Ferrari too, and Mercedes as always. The nature of the circuit, in theory, is not the best for us but we have worked well as a team and have brought new developments that have worked well. We still lack grip compared to others but today was a good day for us. »
Felipe Massa (No. 19) – 11th and 6th
The Pauliste is not fully satisfied with his qualifying round, disrupted by traffic: « It was a really difficult qualifying, especially with the weather. The biggest problem is that I had traffic in Q1. I had to overtake five cars maybe in that lap so I couldn’t achieve a good time. It was a shame, but we will try to do our best tomorrow. »
