Official: Magnussen and Hamilton will start from the pit lane during the Hungarian GP
Kevin Magnussen (McLaren) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) will start from the pit lane this Sunday during the Hungarian Grand Prix F1, following the incidents they experienced during qualifying.
Victim of a major fire on his Mercedes in Q1, Lewis Hamilton will unsurprisingly start from the pits tomorrow during the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Briton will be preceded in the same pit lane by Kevin Magnussen, whose McLaren was too damaged during his accident in Q3.
In flames for long moments, the 2008 world champion’s Mercedes W05 Hybrid was obviously severely damaged and will require significant repairs ahead of the Grand Prix.
On the Danish driver’s MP4-29, Eric Boullier explained that the chassis and gearbox have been affected.
In both cases, the Parc Fermé rule must be broken and the curfew as well, most certainly.
