Hungarian GP: Hülkenberg apologizes for collision with Perez
Guilty of having collided with his teammate during the Hungarian Grand Prix F1, Nico Hülkenberg wishes to apologize to Sergio Perez and his team.
Shortly before Sergio Pérez’s accident, which caused the second appearance of the safety car, the two Force India cars collided in the final corner of the Hungaroring circuit. The collision resulted in Nico Hülkenberg’s retirement.
The latter explains: « It wasn’t the best day and I feel very disappointed. The track was drying and I was very close behind Checo when I touched him in the last corner. The previous lap, he had taken a slightly more outside line so I tried to overtake him on the inside, but he took a tighter trajectory and I couldn’t undo my maneuver. »
The German, who doesn’t finish in the top 10 for the first time this season, apologizes to Sergio Perez and Force India: « I caused a collision with his car, lost my front wing, and went into the tire wall. It was my mistake and I apologize to the team. »
« It is especially frustrating because there was a lot of potential in this race, but I think it was one of those days when nothing goes our way, » he concludes.
