Uncertainty looms over Scuderia Ferrari for 2015, particularly regarding its driver lineup. While Kimi Räikkönen has already indicated his desire to retire at the end of his contract with the Reds, Fernando Alonso is the subject of rumors linking him to McLaren, thanks in part to a substantial offer from Honda, the future engine supplier for Woking.

However, several days ago, a rumor surfaced suggesting that the Spaniard might ultimately extend his stay in Maranello, with a potential renegotiation of his contract.

Interviewed by Sky Sports, Marco Mattiacci, the director of Scuderia, appeared calm about the future of his team member. Thus, when asked if Ferrari would have the same driver duo in 2015, he simply replied: « Yes. » « Are you sure? » Martin Brundle insisted, before the Italian confirmed once again.

When asked if this would be the case again in 2016, Mattiacci explains that he’s not looking that far ahead: « We have two great drivers and my focus is currently on establishing a strong strategy and ensuring that the entire team shares the same vision and the determination to succeed in an environment that positions them to be back on top; having everyone motivated at a time that is definitely not the easiest for Ferrari. »

For James Allison, the technical director of the Scuderia, Maranello has the elements of success: « I don’t think Ferrari has ever lacked resources or quality people, or quality drivers. We have many keys to being a winning team. »

« What we are trying to do, with Marco overseeing it, is to identify the areas where we are not yet at the level of championship leaders in order to improve them. Many of these weaknesses are at the level of organization and a tendency to work in the short term in the past, » explained the Briton to Sky Sports.
