Max Verstappen damages his Red Bull during a demonstration

Future driver for Toro Rosso in 2015, Max Verstappen took part this weekend in a demonstration for Red Bull on the streets of Rotterdam, Netherlands.

While attempting a series of donuts, the 16-year-old driver, in a very narrow area, first got stuck near a barrier, then, guided back on track by marshals, brushed against the barriers on the other side of the street, damaging the front of the Red Bull RB7 in the sister team’s colors he was driving.

Immortalized by the spectators present at this event, the Dutchman’s misadventures obviously sparked amused reactions on social media, particularly on Twitter where internet users had a field day.

This outing was Max Verstappen’s second time driving the RB7, with which he had become familiar during a previous test session at the Rockingham circuit. He is expected to drive during FP1 in some of the remaining Grand Prix.

As a reminder, events of this type have often led to incidents: for instance, Pastor Maldonado lost control of his Williams in August 2012 during a demonstration in Caracas, the Venezuelan capital, destroying his rear left wheel against a curb. More recently, Kamui Kobayashi, driving a Ferrari, crashed quite violently on the wet streets of Moscow in July 2013.
