Official: Ferrari will power Haas F1 Team
Ferrari officially announced that it would equip the Haas F1 Team from 2016, providing it with power units and technical support.
Haas F1 Team will be powered, in 2016, by a Ferrari hybrid engine and will have the gearbox manufactured in Maranello. This was announced by the Italian brand through an official statement.
« There is no team in Formula 1 more accomplished than Scuderia Ferrari, and no team with a greater history. They have been a part of Formula 1 since the beginning, and now they will be a part of the beginnings of Haas F1 Team, » stated Gene Haas.
On the Scuderia’s side, joy prevails: « We are delighted to announce this important strategic partnership with Haas F1 and to welcome an American competitor in Formula 1. A few months ago, we joined forces with Gene Haas on a commercial level, and this is the next natural step in our growing relationship. »
While our objective is to strengthen our power unit development program for all customer teams, we believe that this new partnership has the potential to evolve beyond the traditional role of supplying our power unit and all related technical services. The United States continues to be one of the most important markets for Ferrari and offers many exciting opportunities. We look forward to supporting Haas F1 Team in its efforts to become a competitive contender on the Formula 1 grid, adds the Ferrari statement.
The future team’s principal, Günther Steiner, is on the same page as its owner: « These are exciting times for everyone at Haas F1 Team, and we are honored to have the Scuderia Ferrari as our partner supporting our efforts. When it comes to Formula 1, no one can match the knowledge of Scuderia Ferrari, its technical expertise, and its absolute determination. We understand that there will be some challenges ahead of us, but knowing that we have their technical support, we will develop a team of talented people at an exceptional rate to be ready to race competitively in 2016. We are focused on the future and eager to see what the future holds for Haas F1 Team. »
