Saturday: Magnussen disappointed at McLaren, Button awaits the race

Kevin Magnussen – 7th and 7th

Despite a good result and qualifying ahead of his teammate, the young McLaren driver is not satisfied. « I am slightly disappointed with the seventh position because I don’t think I had a perfect lap on my second set of tires in Q3. I made a few mistakes on that lap, so that’s a few tenths lost. »

Rather than already thinking about the weather for the race, the Dane prefers to take the days one at a time: « I will look out the window of my hotel room tomorrow and I will see the weather. I think it will rain but let’s wait and see. »

Jenson Button – 10th and 8th

« My last lap in Q3 was the best lap I did all day. » Despite this, Jenson Button lines up alongside Kevin Magnussen on the grid, but a few meters behind. « Unfortunately, I locked my tires in the last chicane. However, we won’t be using these tires for the race, so it’s not really a problem. »

The performance in qualifying remains important for the 2009 world champion, even if the weather could change drastically tomorrow: « Everyone thinks it’s going to be completely soaked tomorrow. Whatever happens, I will deal with it. »
