Force India will not be present at Jerez
The Force India team, which was supposed to attend the first official testing days of the season in Jerez (from February 1st to 4th) with its 2014 car, has ultimately decided to skip these four days.
Initially scheduled for the first winter tests in Jerez from February 1 to 4, Force India’s presence has been postponed to the next tests in Barcelona. This was communicated by the team on their Twitter account: « We have chosen not to run with the old car in Jerez. With limited learning opportunities, we will now focus on Barcelona. »
Indeed, Force India has not yet completed its new car and had planned to race with the 2014 model in Jerez. Only the new team colors were presented in Mexico on January 21. Moreover, Andrew Green, the technical director, admitted that the Jerez track was not his favorite for conducting tests.
During the presentation in Mexico, he notably stated to Autosport: « The problem with Jerez is that, because of its particular tarmac, it is very difficult to learn anything about the tires. So we don’t think we’ll have much to do there. »
The new VJM08 should therefore be unveiled during the tests organized in Barcelona (from February 19 to 22), where it will take to the track for the first time on this occasion.
