Manor Marussia F1 in search of a talented young driver

As the Manor Marussia team is set to rise from its ashes and participate in the first Grand Prix of the season in Melbourne in a week, only one driver, the Briton William Stevens, has been announced.

Graeme Lowdon, the team’s sporting director, provided details about the profile being sought: Historically, Manor has always brought talented young people to the starting grids, and we really want to continue in this direction. There are quite a few fast young people around. What we’re looking for is a quick driver with the right temperament to take on the challenge we face as a small team making such a comeback.

Several names have circulated for the second seat. Among them, the most credible being Roberto Mehri. However, the Spaniard, who was linked to Caterham last season and matched the profile sought by Lowdon, has recently committed to Formula Renault 3.5 with the Pons Racing team for the season.

An announcement should be made very soon regarding the identity of William Stevens’ teammate who will line up on the starting grid of the Australian Grand Prix in less than two weeks: « We are in detailed and very advanced discussions with a few very fast young people. It’s not an easy decision, but fortunately, we will be able to make it very quickly. »

This Grand Prix will be covered live with commentary on Motors Inside.
