Force India: Points That Boosted the Team’s Morale

Bob Fernley does not hide it, the points earned by Force India at the inaugural Grand Prix of the 2015 season in Australia are almost unexpected.

These 7 points allow the team to get ahead of Toro Rosso, Lotus, and McLaren, and are especially a reward for all the efforts made by Force India since this winter. The VJM08, which appeared late, has ultimately proven to be very reliable: « The team is back, after a rather tough winter where we started our tests quite late. But we have a car that has been incredibly reliable since its launch. This gave us a clear advantage during the race. We had a good strategy and did the best we could with what we had, » confided Fernley before continuing: « The team can be happy and it’s positive to return to the factory with some points in our pockets, it boosts everyone’s morale. »

Force India fully intends to keep up its momentum and score more points at the start of the season before bringing updates to the car, as Fernley confirms: « This must be our policy. The team’s consistency has allowed us to move forward, and if we can continue to score points until we bring updates, I hope that afterward, we can score points solely on our own merit. »

Through these remarks, Fernley acknowledges that race circumstances have allowed Force India to be where they are today: « We expected some incidents and retirements in the race, probably not quite as many as there were, but it allowed us to do a good job. »
