Red Bull: Better for Ricciardo, Kvyat in the wall
Victim of a brake issue, Daniil Kvyat ended his day in the wall. On the other side of the garage, Daniel Ricciardo is pleased with his team's progress and remains hopeful for the rest of the weekend.
The first day for Red Bull at the Shanghai circuit is rather positive, despite Daniil Kvyat going off track at the end of the second session.
The Russian saw his brakes overheat before making contact with the wall, though the driver was unharmed. We are studying what happened with the brakes, it was as if I couldn’t stop the car, so we need to learn more about it. Everything was going well until the end of FP2. It’s a shame not to have been able to do a longer run, but we had many useful laps before this incident. We made some improvements, and they all seem positive, he stated.
A wind of optimism also seems to be blowing for Daniel Ricciardo, who is fully satisfied with his 3rd place in FP2, behind a Mercedes and a Ferrari: « We had a good Friday, everything worked well, and our pace seems good. We had some aerodynamic upgrades, and the handling is getting better and better. It’s positive. »
