Official: Hamilton extends with Mercedes for three years
Lewis Hamilton and the Mercedes AMG F1 team announced today the extension of their partnership for the next three seasons.
It’s now official. After lengthy negotiations that lasted several months, Lewis Hamilton and Team Mercedes have reached an agreement to extend their collaboration for the next three Formula 1 seasons.
The double British world champion is very happy to announce this news on the sidelines of the Monaco Grand Prix which will take place this weekend: « Mercedes is my home and I couldn’t be happier to stay here for the next three years. This is a company made up of true motor racing enthusiasts, from the leadership to the factory, with an incredible appetite for victory. Even after last year’s success, the motivation remains the same. The car I am currently driving is the best I have driven in my entire career. I am truly proud of this contract which will represent 20 years of collaboration with Mercedes in 2018. »
Toto Wolff, the executive director of the team, is obviously very satisfied with this contract extension: “Continuity is one of the key factors for success in Formula 1, and we now have that in our hands. Extending the contract with Lewis was a priority this season. We took the necessary time for this, without rushing. From a personal standpoint, I am eager to continue making history in Formula 1 with the strongest duo in the sport.”
